The new Company DCX has operation over 00 countries and regions with its traditional business focus on Europe and US. Last year the revenue exceeded $11 billion ranked as no. in automotive industry with earning exceeding $5.6 billion.

Daimler Benz and Chrysler were optimistic about the merger and still feel confident of their strength nowadays. They believed that the two corporations complement each other perfectly and own everything that can be expected to excel in respective areas.Problem Definition

The three main regions (North America, Western Europe and Japan) accounted for 75 percent of all vehicles sold in 18 and are still their most important markets. These traditional markets in the industrialized countries were saturated, and growth was expected from expansion in developing countries in Asia and Latin American. Nevertheless, economic difficulties resulted in large idle capacity in these formerly promising markets, too. Moreover, due to currency volatility, high inflation, and competitive pressure, developing markets have proven difficult.Performance Analysis• Accounting and Financial Analysis Accounting Analysis

Due to its multinational operations, its inventories are valued from division to division. Financial statements are prepared in accordance with US GAAP which is also widely applied by its peers. Though accounting flexibility exists, it would be an exaggeration to say it will distort the valuation of the company.Financial Analysis In 18 Chrysler had an Inventory of $4,78 inventory and total assets of $60,418 therefore ratio is equal .078.If we compare this amount with Ford we have that in 18 Ford had $5,656 inventory vs. $88,744.Ratio of .064.The difference in ratios shows that Chrysler improved its ratio fewer inventories imply more efficiency and better management compared with previous years. Applying the Accounting tools concepts we have that Chrysler reports three types of inventories Finished products including parts not manufactured by Chrysler, ) raw materials and produced parts and ) supplies. There is no work in process listed (vehicles or other produced assets that have not been completed). Supplies inventory is inventory intended for internal use only. It is not incorporated into production.

First of all, let us take a look at its free cash flow, based on the projection of some financial firms. The free cash flows in the following years are sufficient to cover its interest payment, dividend pay-out and anticipated profits. Next is to analyze its profit drivers, return on shareholders and return on total assets. Return on shareholders is very high according to projection. Decomposing the Return on Shareholders it is showing straight forward that the company is run efficiently, the profit margin is sound but the leverage is too high. Return on Total assets is just normal among all the existing automotive firms lower than the level it would be in light of its return on sales. The reason is once again, due to the high leverage, which is a result of its historic merger and inheritance of previous debts from Chrysler.

Turnover ratios show how efficient a company is and can be desired in its management. By looking on Assets ratio, inventory ratio. We would like to say that the company overall is quite efficient and does not have serious financial problems in liquidity.

In the other side we have that Ford reports a somewhat different composition for its inventories. Raw materials, work in process and supplies are grouped together. Finished goods are the other category. Ford has a smaller percentage of its inventory in finished goods, which may reflect somewhat better management of this resource. Ford's ratio did not change over the two years but overall the ratios suggest that Ford may be managing its inventory more efficiently. The difference in ratios is fairly substantial. Ford is maintaining lower inventories as a percentage of total assets. However some financial information shows that Ford has lower inventory during times of cost increases. This factor could cause some of the difference in ratios. In addition the percentage of total assets is not necessarily a good measure of inventory management. The distribution of assets within the automotive sectors of these firms may be different, as well as the age of the assets. Stakeholders. Currents Stakeholders.. Daimler Chrysler South Africa.. Delta Motor Corp.. Ford Motor Company. Volkswagen of South Africa Potential Stakeholders. Potential investors in the eastern cape including both national and international.-Other Western and Eastern Cape Automotive-Automotive component suppliers outside the Eastern Cape.Analysis of Performance

In this case we found that there is a dynamic relationship connecting the stakeholder groups. Both companies (Daimler- Benz and Chrysler) are smart companies that creates a high level of employee satisfaction which leads to higher customer effort, which leads to high quality products and services, which creates higher customer satisfaction, which leads to more repeat business, which leads to higher growth and profits, which leads to high stockholder satisfaction, which leads to more investment, and so on. This is the virtuous circle that spells profits and growth. Analysis of the Societal Environmental Opportunities.

Daimler Chrysler predicament is an expression of global contradictions in the auto industry and vertically every other sector of the economy. The disproportion between manufacturing capacity and potential sales has sparked a wave of mergers and consolidations that in the last few months alone has led to mass lay off announcements by GM, Mazda, and Daewoo. What political, economic, technological, and social trends provide firms in this or related industries with opportunities for growth?

The former traces to product lines that meshed well, Daimler's movement into the American market and Chrysler's movement into the European market and complementary engineering and marketing skills. In contrast, the latter reflects among other things standard and poor decision not to include Daimler Chrysler in the S & P500 index and the clash of corporate cultures and compensation schemes. Differences in corporate culture, compensation policies, ownership structure and the legal environment can be as barriers to entry to a global environment.

The war for independence in this country's most important war was not a strategically outstanding war or one filled with military's greatest minds. But one full of supplies shortage and troops turn over as the militias on the states ended their short-term enlistment. In the other hand the British army was coming from a line of victories and it's navy that was soon to have a big defeat against Napoleon. The Americans won the war for Independence for three reasonsThe first factor was the steadfastness of Washington. However he was not a brilliant strategist and made a number of imperative mistakes, he was a man great integrity who refused to give up. The second factor in the American victory was the British failure to press their advantages. During the war, the British generals, especially Howe, showed little inclination to wipe out the feeble American army, as they could have done on a number of occasions. The British generals did not seem to be taking the war seriously.

Mental and physical strengths. What are these you ask; these are every human being. They are the foundation of every person. Without those strengths we would be nothing, worthless, not worth anyone's time. The men in the book, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, by Ken Kessy, thought that they were worthless, good for nothing people, but had a single man show them otherwise. This man turned their lives around, some for the good, and some for the worst. This man was Randle Patrick McMurphy. Before McMurphy came along the men at the institute were worthless helpless people. Ms. Ratched, know as the Big Nurse, made sure that the men never became anything more than nothing to prove her ruling abilities. After the arrival of McMurphy it became harder for the big nurse to keep control over her patients. "I'm saying five bucks to each of you that wants it if I can't put a betsy bug up that nurse's butt within a week."(p.7) This was the start of McMurphy's plan to show the big nurse that she didn't have complete control over him or the other men. He was going to show them that she "ain't so unbeatable as you think."(p.7)McMurphy began to be the mens mental strength after he had seen what the big nurse had done to them. McMurphy had the men vote during one of their meetings to watch the World Series. He even had the majority vote, but the big nurse still wouldn't allow it. He rebelled against her by not doing his chores and staring at the blank tv. The other men quickly caught on and joined him on and around the couch. "I said, Mr. McMurphy, that you are supposed to be working during these hours,"(p18) McMurphy's plan was working. He had showed the men that the nurse didn't have complete control. "You men - Stop this. Stop!"(p18) The nurse tried to keep control but she knew deep down that she was beginning to lose it.Chief Bromden was the only person that McMurphy saw potential in. From the size physically of the chief, he knew that the chief's physical strength could be regained and used against the big nurse. McMurphy helped the chief get his strength back by constantly complimenting on how the chief was getting bigger. McMurphy was playing a mind game on the chief so that he could be mentally strong enough to be physically strong again. During the first week of McMurphy's stay at the institute he had bet that he could life a control panel off the floor, and if he ever wanted to leave, all he would have to do is throw it out the window. The chief had remembered this after the death of McMurphy, and had decided to leave this place for good. "I heaved again and heard the wires and connections tearing out of the floor"(p10), "I put my back toward the screen, then spun and let the momentum carry the panel through the screen and window with a ripping crash"(p10). The chief had made his escape the way McMurphy had told him and the others how. He had beat the big nurse.

Because of McMurphy most of the men found strengths that were long lost and left the big nurse and her institute. The chief didn't find just his mental strength but also his physical strength. He used his strengths to leave the institute by force because he was one of the few that were actually committed. McMurphy, giving his life for the men, had freed them of their worries and showed them that they could be normal again out with others in society. The chief and the others will never forget what McMurphy had done for them.

The Catcher in the Rye is one of the most known pieces of literature in America. The story takes place mainly in New York City and the renowned school of Pency Prep. Holden Caulfield is the narrator and the main character in the story. He is telling the story after it has all happened in first person perspective. Although there is no climax to the story it is very interesting and a bit odd.

Holden is a 16 year old kid that has difficulty in school. He is not bad in English but the other four classes that he is taking at the school he is failing. It isn't that he is mentally incapable of passing but is lazy and hates the idea of school. After many warnings from Dr. Thurmer the headmaster, he has been ostracized by the Pency Prep. Education program. Although he was not upset by this, he showed concern about his family's reaction. From the time that he got kicked out of Pency to the time he returns home is an adventure.

Holden has one younger sister named Phoebe that he completely adores. He has an older brother named D.B. that lives in Hollywood and writes scripts. Holden is a little disappointed by that because he hates the movies. D.B. used to write books, mostly comedy but now solely writes movies. Holden used to have another brother but he had passed away from leukemia in 146.

Holden has an eighteen year old roommate Stradlater that is a jock. He is the captain of the basketball team and is very popular. Holden is known but not to the extent that Stradlater is. He is also a partier and on this particular day has a date with Jane Gallagher. Jane also happens to be an old friend of Holden's, yet he is not upset. He is more curious then anything else. Since Stradlater is leaving he does not have time to write a descriptive story assigned to him by his English teacher. He asks Holden to do it for him and he agrees. He told Holden to write about a house and it has to be very, very descriptive.

Help with essay on Catcher in the rye essay

Later that night when Stradlater returns, Holden is waiting for him with a bunch of questions about him and his old friend Janes date. Holden gets a bit edgy and get on Stradlater's nerves. Then when Stradlater asks where the assignment was that he was supposed to write for him, Holden said it was on the desk. When Stradlater picked it up and realized that it was not on a house and on a baseball glove they started to argue. Holden had written a whole composition on his late brother Allies' baseball mitt. He wrote about it because it had poems written all over it and Holden could write a good description on it. It was the only thing that he could think of at the time where he could write a enough to fulfill the requirements of the assignment. The argument eventually turned in a fist fight and Holden was knocked to the ground by Stradlater.

Late that night Holden wanted to leave so he finished packing his bags, which was mostly done already because he knew he had to leave. It was only Saturday and Holden couldn't go home until Thursday because his parents didn't know that he got kicked out of school. The letter that Dr. Thurmer wrote would not be received by his parents until Wednesday the latest and Holden did not want to be home when his parents would get it because they would obviously be angry. He wanted time for them to cool. Holden left Pency and decided that he would go on the train to the city and stay in a hotel for a few days. He could afford it and he thought it would be the best thing for him at that moment.

This is where the adventure of Holden Caulfield begins.

Henry complains that the girls dog used to mess up the house and that compared to her baby was far worse. He tells her little information about Sophie except that she loved her dog but then one day it ran away. She didnt get over it and begin to cling to the dogs blankets. She recieves a dirty look from a conservative person as she gets on a bus with her baby. When she returns home she walks in on Margret crying over a photo album. She quickly puts it away and covers it up. That evening Lucy notices Henry thowing out mail that was meant for Sophie (sees Sophies name for the first time). She begins speaking to her neighbour in the mornings on the way to work. He says the elderly couple are really nice, when asked about Sophie but says he often saw her wandering about the seafront clinging to the dogs old blankets after it had died.At work Lucy is begining to get closer her Scottish superviser, David. She checks on Jessica, shes fine.At work she continues to flirt with David and he invites her to dinner. She asks Margret and Henry to look after her baby for the evening and they agree. David picks her up and they go to his house. She has dinner with him and they begin to bond. Henry is sitting in the kitchen alone and Lucy find Margret quickly exiting Lucys room. Margret says that she was seeing to Jessica whod been crying. When Lucy goes into the room Jessica is asleep. She wakes up in the night as before, a very slight sound of a dog again but much more subtler. She goes to check on Jessica but she is gone! Lucy races downstairs in a panic but then finds she can hear Jessica crying in the distance. She races outside (putting on a coat) following the sound of the crying. She ends up on a pile of large rocks on a beach with large dark gaps between them. The baby can still be heard crying down between crevises. As she climbs down towards the darkness where she thinks her baby is a dog snaps at her from the darkness. The next we see of Lucy she is relaxing with Henry and Margret whilst feeding Jessica, we are led to believe that the previous events were mearly a dream. She goes to work where she is greeted by David and told that she may be getting a promotion. She is overjoyed. When she arrives home she finds mail for Sophie waiting outside her door. She takes it down to Margret and asks her why Henry left it there. Margret gives her a strange look and apologises.Back at work she finds out she is being promoted to insurance investigation department. It appears as if David had something to do with the promotion but it is never elaborated. She agrees to go out with David again the following day. That night she wakes up as before to the sound of a dog barking. Its coming from outside. She relaxes, but then sees that her baby is missing. At that moment she begins to hear the child crying and screaming from outside. She grabs her coat and runs outside. She can see in the distance a dog snapping at the baby. She grabs a spade and hits the dog, who yelps and dies. She notices that her neighbours gates open. She takes her baby inside, but guilt at killing her neighbours dog gets to her so she goes out and buries it.The next day she arrives at Davids in a state of distress. She has Jessica with her as she didnt trust Margret and Henry to look after her. She explains a few of the things that have been happening (taking care to not appear crazy) she explains about the photo album that they seem so protective of. He tells her to try and look inside it and to call him.She goes home and looks in the photo album, there we see pictures of Anton. She goes to speak to the neighbour and asks about Anton. He says he moved away a while back and that there was nothing odd about it. His dog walks in, she pets and asks about his other dog. He says he doesnt have one.She goes back home at finds more mail at her door for Sophie. She examines it and finds that she now has the same job. She angrily phones David and asks him why he got her that job, and accuses him of fucking with her mind. She slams the phone down and races upstairs. At this point we should be noticing that about her person are articles that could be seen in the box at the begining. She enters her room to comfort her crying baby, she picks in up, but as shes holding it realises that shes not holding her baby at all, but a clump of dirty blankets. The sound of crying fades. She races downstairs and begins screaming at Margret, demanding to know where her baby is. As she demands to know where her baby is, we flashback briefly to shots of her hitting the dog with the spade and burying it. Margret seems confused and asks Lucy to sit down. Lucy is agitated and reluctuant to calm down. Margret suddenly flips out and begins shouting at Lucy, saying shes had enough of Lucys shit. She says that she was willing to let someone like her into her house but shes not there to deal with her problems. She says shes not happy with having to look after Lucys dog and now shes lost it its not her responsibility. She says shes sorry the dogs but clinging to the blankets for days isnt gonna bring it back. Grow up Sophie! At being called Sophie and talk of her dog going missing Lucy races out towards the grave of the dog, but the tide has gone over it. She begins to wade into the water crying for Jessica. Henry and Margret watch from their garden. We have a few quiet shots around the house of where things have happened, and objects of Sophies. The camera passes a letter from a vet about her dog Jessie Finally the camera rests of a photograph which has allways been on Lucys desk of her with her dog. We hear distantly the sound of a baby crying. The End.

Through My Antonia Willa Cather is explaining how people can should not set predestinated expectations of themselves merely because of their status in society. With the character of Jim we are shown how people can be can do what they please when it comes to their dreams. I do not believe that going to Harvard and becoming successful in New York was ever expected of the small town boy from Nebraska. Throughout the novel there were clues about the expectations of the people that lived there. For instance, Jim's grandmother was often wary of the dreams that Jim had about leaving Nebraska. Since it was something that was often done. Jim's grandmother could in someway represent the criticism that Antonia and Jim would face growing into their own people.

For example, Jim's grandmother did approve of the way Antonia and her family customs. Mainly because it was something new and not familiar to anything that she had ever known. Similar to society, which shuts out everything that is not familiar to them. Jim's mother did not view Antonia's family in a good light. In a way you could say that she shut Antonia and her family out, as would society. Before reading this book I did not think about what life would be like in a place such as Nebraska. To be surrounded by people who do not encourage you to move on and make something better of yourself. To take advantage of the chances they are given and to keep growing as a person. These are the encouragement's I receive weekly and do not give it a second thought that others may not be hearing the same. I didn't realize that the people in Nebraska might not even know of they choices they are being given.

Evaluating Motifs in The Tragedy of Julius Caesar

In his play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Shakespeare shows many dramatic scenes where a character must make a complicated decision. However, in most cases, Shakespeare does not provide the characters sufficient motivation to make the choice they made. Nearly each of the characters face an inner-conflict where, which ever decision he or she makes, it will literally destroy him or her. The characters that encounter the toughest and most complex decisions are Brutus, Caesar, and Cassius. Each of their own careless decisions led to their death.

Brutus jumped to conclusions and never really took the time out to consider and reason each of his possible choices; instead he instinctively joined the conspiracy and killed his best friend. For example, after reading the forged letter from the people of Rome, he immediately concluded that murdering Caesar was for the good of Rome "The genius and the mortal instruments / Are then in council, and the state of a man, / Like to a little kingdom suffers then / The nature of an insurrection." (Shakespeare II, i, 66-6) Even if killing Caesar would have solved his so called "problem", how did it justify betraying your best friend and how sure was he that someone else was going to revolt and carry out whatever Caesar had not done yet and worse? No matter how wrong and evil Caesar was, killing him was not the solution; two wrongs don't make a right. He should have spoken to more people to acquire a better understanding of how they perceived Caesar. In addition, at Caesar's funeral, he justified his acts by saying, "…as he was valiant, I honor him; but, as / he was ambitious, I slew him." (III, ii, 6-7) If Brutus would have at least used common sense and recalled all the times Caesar was actually ambitious, he would not have dug himself into a hole so deep that he could not get himself out of. Caesar declined the crown thrice; this alone shows how humble Caesar was and that he wasn't power hungry. Further more, Brutus did not discuss his plans with his wife, Portia, to at least get her insight and opinion on this matter. If he would have, she probably would have given him good advice by discouraging him and helping reconsider. Portia represents Brutus' private self and true feelings; by ignoring her request and plead for him to confide his problems in her, he disregards his private emotions and intuitions. In all cases, there is plenty of evidence that Brutus should have recalled, and that would have discouraged him from joining the conspiracy.

After all the premonitions that Caesar received, he still went to the senate that day without even taking any precautions. For example, the soothsayer twice tried to warn him, at the feast of Lupercal he said, "Beware of the Ides of March."(I, ii, 18); and Artimidorus wrote up a letter clearly stating what would happen, however, he disregarded all three attempts to save his life. If Caesar realized what the soothsayer had to say on the Ides of March, he should have at least sat him down before he went to the senate and clearly understood what the soothsayer was talking about. How long would have reading Artimidorus' letter taken and isn't he a voice from the people? In addition, the dreams Calpurnia saw prior to Caesar's departure to the senate were dreadfully frightening; a lioness giving birth in the street, dead people walking the streets, and Caesar's statue with blood gushing out of it and noble Romans bathe their hands in it; after all of this he insists on going. Like Portia, Caesar's wife, Calpurnia, portrays his inner most feelings. Like Brutus, he disregards his private feelings and emotions, and intuitions acting as if he is all brave and courageous. These are just a few of the premonitions Caesar received, however, after all the sightings and fortune telling, he willingly listens to his so-called "friends". Decius comes to Caesar's house to take him to the capitol to meet with the senate; Caesar first tells him to go to the senate and tell them that Caesar cannot come and then tells him about Calpurnia's dream, Decius then says that she misinterpreted them and that the true meaning is that it "…Signifies that from you great Rome shall suck / reviving blood, and that great men shall press / for tinctures, stains, relics, and cognizance." (II, ii, 87-8) Here he doesn't believe his wife, however, he believes his "friend". Caesar suffers from a classic case of peer pressure; he feels that if he doesn't go to the senate, it will make him look weak and shame him for listening to a woman. Caesar should have taken all the premonitions as a life-threatening warning; if he did, he would have been crowned Caesar of Rome.

At war with Antony, Cassius receives news that causes him to take his own life; like Brutus, he jumped to conclusions. For example, while Pinadarus is sitting on top of a knoll, he reports, "Titinius is enclosed round about / With horsemen that make to him on the spur; / Yet he spurs on. Now they are almost on him. / Now, Titinius! Now some light. O, he lights too! / He's ta'en! And, hark! They shout for joy." (V, iii, 7-1) Here he concludes that a man from Brutus' army has been captured and killed and that it was going to happen to Brutus when in fact he has just met his friends and they all are rejoicing. Cassius should have gone on top of the knoll taken a look as to what was going on for himself, or he could have waited for a second source. He also could have exiled himself from Rome and flee to another country. In addition, Cassius claimed he felt responsible for Brutus' death. By the way Cassius' character had been established in the beginning of the play, Cassius was probably more afraid for his life. Besides, if he really cared about Brutus, then why did he drag him into this whole mess anyways? Cassius, also, knew that if he did not take his own life, Antony would have hunted him down. This shows that he truly knew that what he did was wrong. He should have exiled himself from Rome and then come back and apologize for his acts when Antony was not so vengeful. Like Brutus, Cassius' death was the result of jumping to conclusions; however, all in all Cassius deserves what he got.

In conclusion, Shakespeare could have added a little more details to support the characters' acts. The details may have seemed useless and pointless in the beginning, but would have turned out to be crucial and important when it came time to a character's decision making. In the play, he shows the characters as very gullible individuals, which he should not have done, that lack the ability to reason, to draw conclusions based on evidence, and to use one's common sense.

Order your blade runner paper at affordable prices with ! Blade runner is a movie that was released in the early 180's. This movie was originally a text novel written by Phillip K, Dick and directed in a video by Ridly Scott. Blade runner is a science fiction film mainly for the fact of its importance in science and how fictional it would have been in the time of the making. Blade runner is set in November 01 in America, LA.

Blade runner is am outlook of the future, where the most ordinary people have left and travelled to outer world colonies. Where there is no middle class citizens, just the lower people who seem to struggle to survive. This movie is set in the future where genetic engineering has already been introduced and done. There are six replicants that are genetically engineered beings who have returned to earth to face their creator. They are being hunted down by so called humans to be retired for causing trouble and being an inconvenience on Earth. The blade runner says. This is where blade runner comes in. Blade runner is a retired police officer who has just been brought back to his job once again. His job is to retire all of the nexus six replicants. Replicants are like any other machine. The blade runner says, "Theyre either a benefit or a hazard. If theyre a benefit, its not my problem".

The only replicants that we know of are Leon, Roy, Zhora, Pris and a replicant who has been zapped, they are the ones who have returned back to earth to face their creator Tyrell for programming them to only live a certain period of time which is four years. The second replicant to be retired is Zhora, in the same scene Leon gets very offended by his partner's death so attempts to kill Deckard the blade runner. As soon as this takes place, Rachel an experiment tried out by Tyrell comes to Deckard's rescue. Rachel is not aware that she is a replicant until she has a void com test done by Deckard.

The only two replicants left to find Tyrell are Pris and Roy. They do this by going to J.F Sebastian, who is a genetic engineer that helps Tyrell. Roy goes to Tyrell for a way of getting more life. When Roy realises he can not get what he wants he decides to kill his creator by cracking his face by what could be known as his superhuman powers.

The death of Pris enrages Roy, and using his superhuman strength takes a savage revenge on Deckard and brakes his fingers. There is a huge climax where Deckard is about to fall to his death Roy saves him so that he can feel the pain of knowing when you are going to die, and it is really believed by Deckard even though shortly after that it is Roys time to die. In this scene Roy tells Deckard "Quite an experience to live in fear, isnt it? Thats what it is to be a slave".

One of the main themes associated in the film is that of the Asians taking over most parts of America. We are left to think if the rest of the world in ‘01' is also part of the new Asian way of life. Another can be how advanced everything is. Even the billboards are electronic; they move and talk like people on a television would.

Blade runner is a movie that one day we might find relevant to our lives. We are only fourteen years away to what our world may become. Already the beginning of genetic engineering has begun but not yet to the extent of the film. The fact that English is hardly used any more is frightening. The only important people on earth are the ones of benefit such as police officers and scientists like Tyrell. When Bryant the police chief is trying to convince Deckard to take the case and kill the nexus six he says " you know the score pal. If your not a cop, your little people" so if you were not of importance to Earth you didn't matter.

Order your Forensic Science-Fatal Voyage paper at affordable prices with Live Paper Help! A Chicago native, Kathleen J. Reichs is an award winning international bestseller, winner of the 17 Ellis award for best first novel. Her novel Dja Dead was only the first in a series of books. She went on to write four more novels Death du Jour, Deadly Decisions , Fatal voyage and Grave Secrets. Kathy Reichs is a internationally recognized forensic anthropologist working on cases around the world, from examining the tomb of the unknown soldier, and working at ground zero, New York, to being an expert witness between Charlotte and Montreal were she currently divides her time. These experiences are what gave birth to her novels, each of her stories is based on her own personal experiences.Evil exists in every human being, the closest most get to this evil is by criminal activities. But, most people also have a natural need for justice when this evil called crime is committed. Justice is often acquired through the means of forensic science, or simply forensics, the application of science to law. Scientific procedures, methods, and technologies are used in investigating these crimes and proving the guilt of an accused suspect in a court of law. After the evidence is gathered from a crime scene, and photographs have been taken. A crime involving a body normally begins with the Medical Examiner ( also referred to as the ME) conducts an autopsy, the examination of the body after death. The ME studies the deceased to determine his or her identity, as well as the cause, method, mode and time of death. The ME determines the time of death by pathology. When a human dies he or she shuts down in stages, the bodies live temperature of 8,6 degrees, is maintained for one to two hours after death, then begins to cool, till it finally drops to it‘s surroundings temperature. But, this method is only used if the body has been discovered within 48 hours. For those cadavers found weeks after death a forensic entomologist enters the scene and uses his or her knowledge of insect life to determine the time and date of death.

Cheap Custom Essays on Forensic Science-Fatal Voyage

Insects are attracted to a decaying corpses odour. This may smell bad to humans, but for an insect it's chow time, and a perfect place for laying eggs. Since insects go through different stages of life at different times, a forensic entomologist (FE) will take samples of the insects surrounding the body, and identify what species they are. Then the FE will cultivate the larvae to discover the time each stage takes. Once the species and stages of their life has been established, the entomologist can determine how many hours and days the body has gone unfound. Insects can also tell if the body has been moved after death by comparing the local insects found around the body and the insects inside the body.Identifying a corpse is sometimes very simple, people usually carry with them a wallet or some kind of identification, it's a simple task to simply examen the contents of a wallet. But, in some infrequent circumstances a body is not carrying any identification and no one is able to identify him or her. Under these circumstances, the ME, and other forensic specialists are brought in to work with the evidence and make an identification. The easiest things to do are to describe the victims appearance and search the missing persons reports. The next step would be to take the body's fingerprints and compare it with the federal fingerprint files. Since no two people have the exact same fingerprints and the pattern is unchanged through life if a match is found the deceased has an identity. Fingerprints can also link a suspect to his crime, fingerprints found at the scene of the crime are compared to a suspect's fingerprints establishing absolute proof the suspected was there. If a body part or a bodies skeleton his found, enter the forensic anthropologists to identify the victim's remains. A forensic anthropologist must suggest the age, sex, stature, ethnic group, and other unique characteristics of a descendent with anthropology, the study of human beings. In the novel Fatal Voyage, author Kathy Reichs has her heroine, forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan, investigating plane crash victims. Body parts have been scattered and Dr. Brennan must determine which body parts go together to identify the body by comparing her description to the description of the passengers on the plane. In other cases without a passenger list investigators can take the description made by the forensic anthropologist and compare it to missing persons files.Forensic science depends on evidence to help solve a crime, and bring criminals to justice. Evidence is a reliable witness, it can be anything and everything in the physical universe that helps establish the facts. From a single hair, to a trail of blood, we humans are made of a cocktail of biological materials that can be left behind at the crime scene, which all can be used to identify the criminal with DNA analysis. Other evidence can suggest contact between the victim and the suspect. Like Sherlock Holmes depended on his trusty magnifying glass, the forensic scientists of today depend on their tools of the trade to uncover evidence. Without these technologies some evidence needed to solve the crime would be obsolete and others not even uncovered. An example would be the chemical luminol, used to highlight blood that has been washed away from the crime scene. . Many books, television programs and movies have based themselves on the idea of forensic science and detective work, from Sherlock Holmes to the popular television show CSI Crime Scene Investigation. These stories show a glimpse of the work involved in forensics, but only a glimpse. On the television and in movies the hero or heroine often reveals the identity of the criminal with one piece of evidence, one clue, that solves the hole case. The real investigators are much harder working and cannot reveal the criminal that instantly. Very often the cases cannot be solved due to an insufficiency of evidence. The search for justice is a hard and long process, which involves many scientific methods procedures, and technologies. For some the search of justice is to strenuous, but for others who remind themselves that justice is needed in a society of laws, it's a living. Kathy Reichs describes the reasons for doing what she does in her book Fatal Voyage when her heroine Dr. Brennan says, "I want to serve both the living and the dead. The dead have a right to be identified .To have their stories drawn to a close and to take their places in our memories. If they died at the hands of another, they also have a right to have those hands brought to account." Forensic scientists require extensive knowledge, training, and skill. They also require a healthy appetite of curiosity, a quean eye of observation, the emotional stamina to work with human tragedies, and to be able to view the evil of man.

A consumer report is usually an article or publication that examines one product in its different brands and presentations on the market. I chose a frozen pizza consumer report to talk about it.

This consumer report has five parts. Different from what one should expected, the first part contains the findings of the study. The second part tells us how the study was carried out and other parts of the findings. The third part gives the facts about pizza and other parts of the findings. The recommendations are given in the fourth part, and finally, the report includes an extra bonus that talks about the kinds of pizza with unconventional toppings.Maybe we should name these parts of the consumer report. We can call them results, methodology, introduction, and discussion. Now we can compare this study to an evaluation research. In order to do a comparison, I will point out the similarities and the major differences between both.Similarities

Custom Essays on Evaluation research and Consumer Reports

Formulation of the research question. In both cases the questions are What is happening? How does it work?Usefulness. A consumer report and an evaluation are intended for use. Both are made to help people to make the right decisions.Judgmental Quality. This is maybe the strongest similarity. Both compare "what is it" with "what should be".DifferencesRole conflicts. In consumer analyses there are not interpersonal frictions because in essence, the consumer report is about a product or a service and it has little or no interest in people.Allegiance. While the evaluation research has obligations with who funds the study, interest in policymakers, practitioners, and others, a consumer report is completely consumer oriented.Study design. Although there are a variety of research designs for evaluating processes, it is different from the consumer report analysis. The consumer report only compares facts, for example the cost per unit or quality of the product. The consumer report just tests the product and reports the results.Sampling. The ways in which the participants can be chosen is another difference between the two kinds of studies. The sampling in the consumer report is the whole population of available products in the market. There is not a real sampling, or randomness, purposive, or anything like that.Action setting. The tests of a consumer report analysis are made in a completely controlled environment (if it is the case). The evaluation takes place in the middle of the action, where the conflicts and events are. Data collection. The most common sources for the evaluation research are interviews, observations, records, questionnaires, etc. But the consumer report is limited to testing the entire population of services or products of interest.Interpretation. In the evaluation, the researcher interprets the data. The consumer report results cannot give anybody's point of view.Publication. The contents of an evaluation report are much richer than the consumers report. The evaluation is careful with the context, the stakeholders, the limitations of the findings, transcriptions, and lot more things. At the same time, the major difference and similarity are the recommendations. Both studies give advice at the end. Consumer report gives advice about the best product or service, but the evaluation goes further. The evaluation is not only a score or label for programming, its purpose is to contribute to the improvement of the program.

This is an exceptional book with tremendous power over the reader. It should not, however, be added to the mandatory reading list for language arts III honors. This book deals with many sensitive issues and teenagers should not be forced to face all of these sensitive issues.

From the get go, it is obvious that this book is meant for people who have reached a certain maturity level. In one of the first scenes, Celie is being raped by her father. The language used here is crude and she uses words like "titties" and "pussy". This is how she knows the different parts of the body. The book goes on to continue to talk about sex throughout the book. This book is not made for the average high school student. A level of maturity is required in order to be able to understand what is happening without getting caught up in crude scenes. In a school, students can not be forced to read a book like The Color Purple because of the vulgar and crude scenes. It cannot be made mandatory for high school because it is such a serious topic and the book takes it so seriously that someone with a low level of maturity would not understand the book at all. Further, someone with a superficial understanding of the book would hurt the progress of other students in the class during group discussions. In general, The Color Purple deals with sensitive topics that many people just aren't ready to face and for this reason, it cannot become part of mandatory LA III honors reading.

Celie goes through rape and so much more in this book. This subject is tabooed in our society and is extremely sensitive. Rape is not discussed frequently in this society, especially if a girl has been raped, she probably will not want to discuss it. It is impossible to be able to tell what kind of tragic events have plagued a person's life by simply looking at them. The Color Purple touches upon a wide range of sensitive issues so it is possible, even likely, that one of these issues falls close to an experience that a student has had. More often than not, the student will not feel comfortable sharing his or her personal life with the entire life. This puts the student in an awkward situation. For this reason, The Color Purple should not be mandatory reading for school.

The Color Purple was, however, a poignant novel that has the ability to change the lives of many. It was beautifully written and the subject was provocative and moving. If it is the student's choice to read this book, it should definitely be allowed because the student will grow tremendously from it. Therefore, in stead of making The Color Purple mandatory reading, it should be offered as one of a few between which the student could pick. This would give students the opportunity to read this extraordinary novel but would not put students who arent ready in a bad situation.

Write my Essay on "The Color Purple" for me

With powerful and compelling scenes describing rape and beatings, The Color Purple has the ability to make some people extremely uncomfortable and others enlightened. Either way, it has to be up to the student to read it. If it is mandatory reading, many could very easily be offended and would not feel comfortable in class. Making it optional reading still emphasizes its importance but ultimately leaves the choice up to the student, the way it should be.

One of the most famous paintings of all time is the Mona Lisa. Perfect poise and mysterious beauty are two phrases used to describe the woman in the painting. However, she has no eyebrows, it was the fashion in Florence, during the Renaissance to shave eyebrows off. The painting, which is so large in our minds and imaginations, is in reality less than feet by feet. Leonardo da Vinci takes so long (four years) to complete the painting that the Florentine merchant whom commissioned the portrait of his third wife, Lisa, got impatient. He refused to pay for the painting, which today is priceless. Leonardo, according to tradition, sold the painting to the king of France. Is the woman in the painting smiling or does she have some other secret we will never know? Seated in her misty, mountainous landscape, she remains aloof and mysterious forever.I have had many many choices in my life.A decision ,then out come , turned sacrifice.I get so confused like looking through blurred visionEndure sacrifice, due to out come,of a bad decision. When I think of you and start to reflecton all that I have hendered, and that of neglect. For so many reasons I say that I was wrong.Im missing you intensely, but I must stay strong. For many roads of life I have walked through.I have never seen realness the way it shines from you.Though you may not realize or never understandI feel completed from the touch of your hand. Now time has lengthened and miles and miles in my way.

Sumerian Art

What was once the flat lower valley of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers was transformed by the Sumerians into the Fertile Crescent of the ancient world. (Kleiner 18) The Sumerian art was one of great power and originality, and influenced all of the cultures of western Asia. (Infoplease 1) Sumerian art was primarily made of clay, because it was their most abundant material. It's responsible for their style of baked-mud building, and their fine-textured pottery. Other materials had to be imported. Sculpture was the main art form used. (Sumerian 1) Another addition to the world that the Sumerians are responsible for is the cuneiform writing system, which they invented around 000 B.C. (Infoplease 1) most art was made for religious purposes. Ancient Sumer was made up of a dozen independent city-states, and each one was under the protection of one of the Mesopotamian gods. The rulers in Sumer were thought to be the god's representatives on earth. (Kleiner 18)

One of the best and widely known examples of Sumerian art is the alabaster vase found at Uruk, known as the Warka Vase. It is ornamented with reliefs in several registers, which are typically Sumerian in their clearness and exactness. The reliefs can be read from bottom to top or top to bottom without affecting their significance. (Parrot 87) It was found in the Inanna temple complex, and it shows a religious festival in the goddess's honor. It is divided into three registers and the lowest one shows sheep and rams above barley and flax, and a wavy line representing water. These are used because they are the staple commodities of their economy. The use of a ground line is new in the vase, but animals being in strict profile are consistent with the time. (Kleiner 1) A long procession of offering-bearers, naked men carrying baskets of fruit and vegetables, and vases, are approaching the entrance of a temple. (Parrot 87) The presents that they carry are a votive offering for Inanna. The men do not overlap, and are in composite view. (Kleiner 1) The upper register is a female figure with a tall horned headdress; this could be Inanna herself, or her priestess. The food offerings have been put into the shrine of Inanna. One of the men leads the way with a dignitary behind him. He is presumed to be the king of the city or the high priest. He has a long-tasseled belt that is held up like a train by an attendant, and he is greeted at the temple entrance by a woman that could be the goddess herself, or the High Priestess. (Parrot 87) The hierarchy of scale proves the man's greater importance, because he is taller than the others. (Kleiner 1) The Warka Vase is the oldest ritual vase in carved stone discovered in ancient Sumer and can be dated to around 000 B.C., and stands at about four feet tall. (Sumerian ) It shows the atmosphere of the age, and gets an idea of the way man entered the presence of his gods. (Parrot 88)

A fragmentary white marble female head is another achievement of Sumerian art. It is thought to be the head of the goddess Inanna. (Kleiner 0) Inanna descended from the heavens into the hell region of her sister, the Queen of Death, and she sent her messenger with instructions to rescue her if she should not return. The seven Judges hung her naked on a stake. (Sumerian ) The piece is a face with a flat back, and it was found in the sacred precinct of the goddess. It was completely fashioned by hand, and the stone had to be imported, which explains why the sculpture is only the head, because it would be too expensive for the complete body. (Kleiner 0) The face has drilled holes for attachment to a head and body that is probably made of wood. The bright color of the eyes, eyebrows, and hair, overshadow the soft modeling of the cheeks and mouth. The indention at the top held a wig, which was thought to be made of gold leaf. (Kleiner 0) Originally, the eyes and eyebrows were filled with lapis lazuli and shell, the original appearance was much more vibrant and ornate than the white fragment that stands today. (Parrot 86)

Another Sumerian votive statuette is the figure of Urnanshe. His intense eyes were inlaid with shell and lapis lazuli. Urnanshe has a bare chest, and has a fleece skirt on, with his arms that are now broken, in front of him in prayer. He sits with his feet crossed on a cushion, and has long hair down to his waist, which suggests that he is a eunuch. (Kleiner ) The reason he is in a skirt is that he was a singer and dancer at the Mari court. (Parrot 16) He was the official singer at the Mari court, and his statuette shows that he stands ready to serve the goddess and his ruler. (Kleiner )

The ziggurat's of the Sumerians were one of the most striking and extraordinary architectural achievements. (Infoplease ) A good example of one of the temples is the five-thousand-year-old White Temple at Uruk, home of hero and king Gilgamesh. It is made of mud bricks, and it is called the White Temple for its large whitewashed inner shrine. (Parrot 68) The temple stands on top of a high stepped platform forty feet above ground level in the center of the city. A stairway leads to the top, and does not end in front of any of the doorways. This requires it to use a "bent-axis" approach for the angular changes in direction. The corners of the temple are oriented to the points of the compass. The building was probably dedicated to Anu, the sky god. It was not made for large groups of worshipers, but for priests and leaders of the community. There are several chambers to the temple, but the cella was set aside for divinity and had a stepped altar within. (Kleiner 1) The temple was created because men wished to build a ladder between earth and heaven, to facilitate the descent of their gods. Offerings were provided to the god and after this service to their overlord, the god would come down from the heavens to the residence prepared for him in the town below. (Parrot 68)

The cities known as Sumer came under control of Sargon of Akkad, and introduced a new form of royal power based on loyalty to a kind than to the city-state. (Kleiner 6) The Akkad dynasty soon put an end to city-states around 70 B.C., and also extended its rule over into western Iran. (Porada 40) The destruction of the great city or Ur in Mesopotamia by the Elamites left an impression on the Sumerian people, and two lamentations on clay tablets show the memory of this event. On is the lament over the destruction of Ur, and the other is the lament over the fate of Ibbisin, the last kind of Ur, who was led away into captivity. Parts of the lament of Ibbisin translate to "...hostile Su people and Elamites will attain the inhabitants [of Ur], the king [of Sumer] will have to leave the palace, Ibbisin will have [to go] to the country of Elam, [go] from the Sabu mountain, the "breast" of the mountain range, to the end of Anshan; like a bird which left its abode, like a stranger [he will not return] to his city". (Porada 45) Soon the end of the Sumerian city-states would occur, and lead on to the Akkadian, Neo-Sumerian, and Babylonian arts.

Because the fear of change is a part of human nature, quite often society will not accept you until youve become the person they expect you to be. In

Alice Munros Boys and Girls, a young girl, whose name is never mentioned, struggles through growing up out of a child into societys expectations of a young

lady. Although at first she does not take any interest in becoming that person, she later wonders if it is her unavoidable destiny. Society sets boundaries for everything and everyone and this girl attempts and fails to break through the boundaries of being a female.

The girl lives in a house with her mother, a stereo-typical house wife, her younger brother Laird, and her father, a fox farmer whom she adored. In their house, on the other side of the stairwell were things that nobody had any use for anymore. This foreshadows how the girl would feel once her brother was a little older and was able to help her father with the outdoor mens jobs. That made me no use to anybody, she thought. She and her brother, Laird, were afraid at night inside their room. To comfort themselves they would sing songs and they knew that [they] were safe as long as [they] didnt step off the square of worn carpet which defined [their] bedroom space. Similarly, the girl would later realize that she would be safe as long as she stayed in the boundaries society had created for females. Nevertheless, as a child she took much pride in helping her father with his work and she was constantly searching for his approval. I worked willingly under his eyes, and with a feeling of pride. She wanted her father to be proud of her and she viewed his work as much more important then her mothers work. It seemed to me that work in the house was endless, dreary, and peculiarly depressing; work done out of doors, and in my fathers service was rituallistically important. She went on to mention that she hated the hot dark kitchen in summer, ironically, the very place she would be expected to work in as a woman. To the girl, the kitchen resembled a foxs kennel-- something like a clothes chest with airholes. Just like her mother, she would probably one day be outside and look out of place, with her bare lumpy legs, not touched by the sun, he apron still on and damp acrossthe stomach from the supper dishes. But, she didnt know it yet. The innocent little girl didnt yet have a clue that what she would become had already been determined by the boundaries society set for being a woman.

She didnt seem to mind that her father barely talked to her except regarding work. My father did not talk to me unless it was about the job we were doing...and I was shy of him and would never ask him questions. This is most likely due to the time that the story was set in, and so it was just common that fathers didnt talk to their daughters much. Like to have you meet my new hired man, I turned away and raked furiously, red in the face with pleasure. Being considered a worker by her father made her feel proud and important. She would much rather take the role of a man who would be important in life than that of a females. Females at the time were stereo-typed as helpless and in need of rescue. Women were seen to have only one sole purpose-- childbearing. The foxes too only had one use and that was for their furs. Once they were skinned, they looked suprisingly small, mean and rat-like and were collected in a sack and buried at the dump. The foxes inhabited a world my father made for them. Much the same, she inhabited a world society created, a world plump-full of boundaries and stereo-types.

The changes from a child into a girl become evident to her the winter [she] was eleven years old and [they] had two horses in th stable. The two horses, Mack and Flora, would be kept in the stable until they were needed to feed the foxes. Mack, meaning son of, represents Laird. He was slow and easy to handle. Mack stood against the barn wall trying to scratch his neck and haunches, but Flora trotted up and down and reared at the fences, clattering her hooves against the rails. Flora, of course, represents the girl in her struglle to fight off the female stereo-type. The girl displays her rebellion to the stereotype after her grandmother began to tell her hose she was supposed to act as a girl. Girls dont slam doors like that. Girls keep their knees together when they sit down, her grandmother lectured. So, [She] continued to slam doors and sit as awkwardly as possible, thinking that by such measures [she] kept [her]self free. She knew deep down that becoming a girl was unavoidable, but she still seemed to feel the need to fight back. The word girl had formerly seemed to me innocent and unburdened, like the word child; now it appeared that it was no such thing. A girl was not, as i had supposed, simply what I was; it was what I had to become, she thought to herself.

Later the girl would have to say goodbye to the horses though she had almost forgotten they were going to be shot. We see her girliness (if you will) quite clearly after she watches Mack get shot dead. Though she did not have any great feeling of horror, she felt a little ashamed , and there was a new wariness, a sense of holding-off, in [her] attitude to [her] father and his work. She also began to catch herself wondering if [she] would be pretty when [she] grew up. As well, her bedtime stories changed. She still told herself stories each night but they changed from ones in which [she] rescued people from a bombed building...[or] [she] shot two rabid wolves who were menacing the school yard (the teachers cowered terrified at [her] back), into ones in which someboday was rescuing [her]...and at this point the story concerned itself at great length with what [she] looked like. Finally, when Flora was about to escape and the girl was the only one who could make it in time to shut the gate, and her father shouter to her Go shut the gate!, instead, she opened it as wide as [she] could. Sunconsciously she had decided to let Flora run free. She hadnt thought about it, she just did it. This freeing of Flora symbolizes the girls last attempt to free herself of the stereotype of a woman. But, she is caught when her father says shes just a girl, in response to her crying and finding out that she had actually freed Flora. Flora was caught in the end too. And the girl gave in and gave up her fight. I didnt protest that, even in my heart. Maybe it was true, she thought.

Though sometimes it may seem like a struggle, the changes that we undergo throughout life to please society are often unavoidable and sometime for the better. What is normal in society is what society expects from us, and even if we try to be different, we are generally unsuccessful. Even if we are successful, the result tends to be alienation from society which is not a particularly desirable state. In Alice Munros Boys and Girls, the narrator is not accepted into society until she undergoes the necessary changes for becoming a lady, thus meeting societys expectations of women at the time.
